Habitat-reborn
One of the assumptions of the Minsk Land Beekeepers Association is education. Every year our beekeepers organize lectures in local schools and kindergartens. At the invitation of students from the Economic School Complex in Mińsk Mazowiecki, we took part in the „Habitat-reborn” project as part of the Released from Theory Olympiad. The main organizers of the project were ZSE schoolgirls Karolina Kudlak and Maria Radosz, and the project supervisor was Ms. Małgorzata Kozińska-Zięba. On behalf of the Association, on January 13, 2023, Konrad Ładnowski conducted a lecture titled „Bees and their importance for the ecosystem”. During the lecture, 6th grade students and their guardians had the opportunity to hear about the history of bees and beekeeping, the importance of these beneficial insects for people and the ecosystem, the threats facing bees and ways to help these wonderful creatures. The meeting, which lasted about 2 hours, ended with a knowledge quiz about bees and prizes awaited the best participants. Each meeting participant received brochures published by our Association entitled: „Invite the bees to your garden” and „Welcome to the world of bees” and a colorful leash. Those interested could take with them bags prepared by the project organizers with seeds of various melliferous plants, which after sowing, will help create a colorful and pollinator-friendly flower garden.
The second part of the „Habitat-reborn” project were workshops organized on February 22, 2023 at the „Międzyczas” youth center located in the Dernałowicz Palace in Mińsk Mazowiecki. Quite a large group of young people and their guardians listened to a lecture about bees and the world around them and the problems of these small, hard-working creatures. The meeting ended with questions and an interesting discussion.
We would like to thank the project organizers and all participants of the lectures and workshops for their interest in bees.
We are extremely pleased with all the interesting initiatives of young people who care about the fate of bees and we are always happy to support such activities.
